April's Hair Treatment

*Disclaimer: What may work for me may not work for everyone. I'm just sharing my regimen to document my personal journey.

I decided to do my ACV treatment for the first time this year. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), Baking Soda, Lemon juice(half of a lemon), a touch of salt and water. Soaked my locs for about 20 mins running the mix through my hair repeatedly.
I squeezed the excess out of my hair then thoroughly rinsed my hair until the water ran clear.
Then I took some honey, lemon, my oil mixture, an egg yoke, and some mayonnaise and applied it to my locs as a deep conditioner. I then put my locs in a shower cap and wrapped a towel around my head to retain the heat so I didn't have to sit under a dryer.
I'm leaving the conditioner in for about 2 hrs then thoroughly rinsing my hair until the water runs clear. I'm going to shampoo my locs with the Earthbalisms Lavender Lemongrass Teapoo bar, apply my oil mixture to my locs then interlock the new growth with Shea butter.
Pics coming soon

Peace and Blessings!!

February loc treatment and style

Hello good people!!!

Here is my February treatment and style.

Shampooed my locs with Creme of Nature Argan Oil Moisture and Shine Shampoo
Conditioned with Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Treatment
Since I interlocked my new growth last month, there was no need for a re-twist so I used Shea Butter to braid my locs for a braid out.
Here are my results as of today:

I will be posting pics after I take the braids down and may post a few styles as well.
Stay tuned....

Peace and Blessings!!!

Shea Butter January hair treatment

Happy New Year everyone!! 2013

Disclaimer: What may work for me...may not work for everyone. This is just my personal journey of hair treatments.

I shampooed my locs with Creme of Nature Argan Oil Moisture & Shine Shampoo

I love how soft my locs feels after shampooing. My locs always feel juicy (juicy is always good LOL)

I decided to try out the Cantu Shea Butter leave in conditioning repair cream this time and I'm happy to say that I love how it makes my locs feel. This is a product that will definitely be in my treatments this year.

I also found a tub of shea butter that wasn't just small globs of shea butter in them. They actually melted it down and filled the entire tub. I've always enjoyed using shea butter for my body as a lotion (due to dry skin during the winter) and now I know that I can use this for my locs as well...it's going to be a wonderful year :)

So since it's the first month of the year, I decided to interlock my new growth. LONGEST PROCESS EVER!!! If you don't have the patience....please do not try this on your own. Have a loctician interlock your new growth for you.

I mixed the shea butter leave in conditioner with the shea butter and interlocked my new growth.

As you can tell from the top of the picture, I had a lot of new growth that needed some lovin' :) After a lot of patience and taking breaks to let my elbows get the feeling back in them...this is the final product...
TAAAAA-DAAAAAA!!! ALL DONE!!
So now I don't have to worry about maintaining my new growth for the next 6-8 weeks. I'm glad I decided to interlock, it may take a long time to do it but all in all it's so worth it. Once my scalp feels like being manipulated, I'll start posting pics of different styles that I decide to try. New year, new styles! Stay tuned!!

Peace and Blessings!!

Dec 2012 Hair Treatment

Today 12/19/12 I did my last deep condition treatment of this year. It's been an interesting year with my locs and I am happy to say that it's been a lot of fun.

I shampooed my locs with Creme of Nature Argan Oil Sulfate-free Moisture & Shine Shampoo

I've heard great things about this shampoo and I can honestly say...I enjoyed using this product. My locs were feeling very dry and brittle before I started and once I shampooed my locs, they started to feel a lot softer and moisturized. Which is what my locs needed. A serious rejuvenation process and I must say...it feels good.

Then I decided to use one of my favorite conditioners:
Dr. Miracle's Tingling Intensive Deep Conditioning Treatment
My locs were so dry that I felt the deserved to be treated deeply!! So I took two packs of the treatment and applied it to my locs from roots to tips. Tingling Intensive accurately describes the feeling your scalp feels!! An intense tingling that feels like it's working magic.
Since I ran out of plastic shower caps, I grabbed 2 plastic shopping bags (work just as well) and wrapped them around my locs, then a bonnet to keep them in place, then my scarf. Giving my scalp heat without actually applying heat.
Once I rinse the conditioner out, I'm debating on whether I should braid it up for a braid out or do some spiral curls...whatever I do decide on, it'll be part of my style for the New Year. Let's see what I come up with....stay tuned...

Hair regimen Oct 15, 2012

Hello everybody!!! Peace and Blessings!!!
Today I decided to do my hair and mix two of my favorite company's products: Earthbalisms and Buttafly Jonez :)
Earthbalisms  Buttafly Jonez

I shampooed my locs first with Earthbalisms Mint Mary Teapoo Bar to have my scalp feeling minty fresh:

Then I shampooed my locs with Buttafly Jonez Luxurious Hair and Body Wash (scent Ooh, She's Fine)

Meanwhile...in the kitchen, I was boiling the Mint Mary Tea Rinse by Earthbalisms which I let cool then used  the rinse as directed...ran it through my locs about 3 times (from one bowl to the other).
I had some left in the pot so I added it to my trusty spray bottle to use as a spritz for moisture...what I added to it was some of Buttafly Jonez Bath, Body & Hair Oil (scent Ooh, She's Fine I just love this scent!!). This mix I will utilize while I'm re twisting my new growth because by the time I get to the top of my head...my locs are usually already dry.

Once I start re twisting my locs, I will use Buttafly Jonez Hair and Body Butter which I absolutely love especially since my locs are dyed I need to keep them moisturized to prevent breakage and dryness.

Since I'm only at the "just rinsed" stage..I will be posting pics of my final results of my re twist.
If you're looking for companies that actually care about your hair and put LOVE in their products....I definitely recommend Buttafly Jonez. Co as well as Earthbalisms

Here is what my locs look like after my re twist and braided my locs for a braid out (I just love my locs wavy LOL)

Feel free to comment and share with friends that may be looking for some good products to use :)

Oct 2012 Libra RedHead

For my 37th b'day this year I decided to dye my hair red again. I just love how the red looks against my skin tone :) The first time I dyed it red (a few blogs ago) I did the dummy move and jumped in the pool which gave me golden brown highlights and stripped all of my red smh. Now that the summer is officially over, I don't have to worry about chlorine waters LOL so here are my results this year's hair dying session.
Lightened my locs with powdered bleach and volume 30
Applied Adore colors: Paprika and Crimson red
These are my end results:

Now that my locs are shoulder length, I can't wait to start experimenting with more styles and sharing them with everyone. (I'm a big kid when it comes to playing with my hair LOL this is the longest and healthiest my hair has ever been and I just love sharing my journey).
Peace and Blessings!!

Earthbalisms Product Review

Before I interlocked my locs last week I shampooed my locs with theEarthbalisms Mint Mary Teapoo Bar

My scalp felt tingly and wonderful. I love how the soap easily dissolves and smells devine.
Mint Mary is especially great for clarifying the hair!
This low lather "teapoo" bar is designed to cleanse the hair without causing build up or dryness. Enhanced with natural cleansing herbs such as soap wort, soap nuts, and yucca root.
You will find the most natural ingredients, and yes, this is sls free!

Afterwards I rinsed my locs with Earthbalisms Herbal Hair Rinse-Mint Mary I boiled the mix and let it cool. Then I decided to add the mix to a spray bottle to be able to spray my scalp whenever my scalp feels dry or itchy.

Cool, clarifying, collected! Mint Mary Hair rinse is sure to please and chase away build up. Use after shampooing or a primary cleaner.
Mint Mary is made with the following:
Organic peppermint
Organic spearmint
Rosemary
